I know my fitness challenge post is due but I am more motivated to write about all the other stuff that's on my mind now! Well, I have to admit that it is also partly due to the fact that I didn't eat really clean or exercise much. Anyway, we are still going to the beach, no matter what!
As I was browsing through Pinterest to look for beach outfit and photo inspirations few days ago, Mr Lee said he wanted to just bring a small luggage, for the both of us! This is because we're going to the beach and he has nothing much to pack with. I said, how can that be? I have one hundred things on my mind now that I need to prepare for the trip and things to bring with me. That was when I found out that, again, men and women are so different. Well, need this be reaffirmed?
I am a to-do list fan, naturally, there will be a list for beach vacay prep:
1. Hair Colour
Maybe this is just for me, because my hair was out of colour. The last time I touched up my hair colour was early March, which is about three months ago. Also, due to the high recurrence of hair colouring, my hair literally looks like a glass of 3-layered milk tea. The bright yellowish brown colour has been with me for about a year, and I have decided to tone down the colour a bit since my hair is growing longer. For now, I wish my hair to look healthier with a simple colour. Guess what? I have gotten this one checked just now! My hairdresser thought the same about getting me a darker hair colour this round, so I have handed over full authority to her to decide which colour suits me best. I am very pleased with the end result and I feel like I am one step closer to the beach now yay!
How can a girl not getting her nails done before going to a beach? Hence, this sits on the second priority on my list. I am also very happy to have made a manicure and pedicure appointment next week, more importantly, I'm going to try out the nail salon which I have been following for so long. Although I am going to do gel polish, I think nails should be done right before the trip, just to make sure that I bring the perfect nails to the destination hahaha. I am getting less adventurous on my nails now, so it's going to be either blue-themed or beach-themed, not those bright, fancy colours. Definitely looking forward to getting this one done!
3. Beach outfit
I need to buy a maxi beach dress, a cover-up and probably another pair of swimsuit. To be honest, I am not sure if I have time to shop for all these. To save time, I will probably get these online. If they fit me well, hooray! If they don't, I think I still have alternatives in my wardrobe. Again, preparation of the trip itself is already a joy.
4. Beach bag
I have always wanted to have a nice beach tote. However, I am not really a beach person and I don't go for beach vacation very often. This is the perfect time for me to search for a beach bag and I can always use it later - whenever I have the holiday mood but I am not on holiday, you know what I mean.
By listing this, I have sort of given up on the hope that I will achieve a leaner body shape for this trip. It's a bit sad to say this, but going for holiday is a happy thing and I shouldn't be too stressed about my body. After all, who defines a bikini body? Not that I am going to wear bikini, but I think there are ways to look good even if you don't have the model-like figure "yet". The least I could do is to try on a one-day detox which I have been wanting to try for ages. This is not just for the appearance, I hope it's good to cleanse the body as well.
The most ironic fact is that I don't swim and I get a little stressed even with snorkelling. I might end up looking and feeling so good, but not in the sea. Anyway, I will be happy to just relax by the beach, take a few great shots, do some reading (if I don't fall asleep) or, look at the hot guys on the beach haha!
Phew! It has been a hectic week! (Is this the best opening to feel less guilty on what I ate? Hahaha.) So, Mr Lee had a wisdom tooth extraction on last Saturday and he was suffering from all kinds of discomfort, even till today. I wanted to accommodate to his needs and preferences whenever we eat out, as a form of moral support, since I can't be his painkillers. So, the eat clean concept has been watered down to just no-carb or no-rice.
However, I didn't want to stop this challenge because things happen. We just need to adjust ourselves and face it. Although my eating has not been as clean as I wanted to be, it is still far better than my usual crappy diet. I am completely honest about what I ate, as below:
Day 5 Breakfast: 2 half-boiled eggs + a wee bit of fried vermicelli
Day 8 Dinner: Last night before I undergo wisdom tooth extraction the next day. Mr Lee kept encouraging to eat whatever I want since I might not be eating well for the whole week after this! I chose to have seafood at The Manhattan Fishmarket. Skipping the rice but not the fries, I can't resist fries if they're served to me haha.
Workout on Day 5:
1 min of jumping
3 sets of squats x 10
3 sets of alternating curtsy lunge with weight x 10 both sides
3 sets of plank x 1 min
Overall I'm not satisfied with my performance because I can certainly do better. What is more frustrating is that I'm going to extract wisdom tooth on Day 9 and I don't know how that's going to affect me. Anyway, we still need to keep our heads high and hope for the better.
As mentioned earlier, I was spending my day 3 & 4 with my in-laws and my little man. So here's what I ate over the weekend: (guilty)
For dinner, I ate fish and stir fried choy sum prepared by my MIL.
Exercises for Day 3 and Day 4 are chasing after my little man all over the house, playing hide-and-seek with him and carrying him round the shopping mall. Okay, I know these don't count.
Despite not eating very clean and not exercising, I had a wonderful weekend with my family!
It's Friday! On every Friday, I am super excited, because I'm seeing my little man soon! I don't have much control over the food intake on weekend because I will be with my in-laws... but I will try to stay away from carbo this weekend, hopefully.
I eat home-cooked food whole day and I went to gym for upper body workout, I think that's not bad.
15 mins HIIT running
3 sets: barbell bench press 10x
3 sets: chest fly 10x
3 sets: lat pulldown 10x
3 sets: seated row 10x
3 sets: comando 1 min
Being hungry is the scariest thing, because I will usually lose control on my diet when I'm hungry. So, I just need to make sure that I am always full haha! As far as I am concerned on my super bloated stomach recently (no, I am not pregnant!), I look forward to spending this weekend with the people I love. Just can't wait to be back and give my big fat kiss to the little man!
Let's see if I have chance to exercise, hehe.
I'm doing this because I'm travelling to an island soon and I hope I can look better and take more photos! By the way, day 1 was actually yesterday (18 May) and that was exactly 21 days before I travel. I'm going to post about my eating and my workout here.
